Hello 🙂 my name is Danny Esteban. Im a mail carrier for The United States Postal Service and a veteran of 8 year's in The U.S. Army.

I wrote Traversing the Dreamscape with an RPG setting in mind. I absolutely love RPGs as well as conceptual music especially if it's in parts and my song is no acception. It's a 3 part song, each part a different recurring dream I've had, one a little nightmarish, one weird, and one very chaotic but very fun.

Part 1 is called Three House Row and runs from 0:00 to 2:52. Im assuming it takes place in the area I was deployed at in The Arghandab River Valley in Afghanistan because I started walking through what looked like a pomegranate forest like the ones we would patrol through. I got through the forest and found a large empty field. In the distance there were 3 houses in a row looking very out of place because they looked like very old and decrepit townhouses. The area I was deployed at had mostly mud huts and small shops. I began approaching the houses but something told me I shouldn't and run as far as you can from this place so I did. I woke up as soon as I started running.

The second time I had this dream it was the same setting but night. I got through the forest, saw the same houses and for some reason I decided to spend the night in the middle house. The inside of the house was in disrepair and very dusty. I went to the top most room and got ready to bed down when I looked out the window and saw an old lady with grey skin, wearing an old victorian purple dress approaching the house. I panicked and immediately ran out of the house and ran in any direction I could. Before the dream ended I found what we would call "the s bend" which was a dirt road that bent like an s. It was also a very dangerous road to be on so we avoided using it unless we absolutely had to. Before I woke I heard a voice over saying something about that old lady being in a book and then another voice said "she's not there anymore" followed by a beep. I've yet to dream that place again but the next time I do, I want to explore that place. Maybe even talk to the lady.

Part 2 is called LAByrinth and runs from 2:53 to 6:38. This dream is more recurring and thankfully not as nightmarish just weird I guess. The setting varies but the most recurring place is what looks like a lab with people in lab coats and gas masks walking around. Im not sure what they are doing but for sure im trying my best to avoid them so I have to sneak around and find an elevator. To go where? That is a very good question. When ever I do find an elevator I always take great caution not to press any buttons that take me lower. In one dream I had I pressed the wrong button and went lower to what im guessing was the basement area, if the basement was a dark labyrinth with echoed screams coming from somewhere in the maze.

At 5:03 the song goes into kind of like a cumbia to accompany another similar dream. This dream doesn't take place in a building but in a rural area in Puebla, Mexico called Piaxtlta. My mom grew up there so we would occasionally visit. It's a very small but beautiful village surrounded by vegetation and forests. So in this dream I would be going through this forest and find the entrance to a maze. I guess just Google "mayan cities" and that's very close to what these mazes look like. Nothing scary or spooky in these dreams. Just weird I guess lol.

Part 3 is called The Sky is Doing Weird Stuff and runs from 6:39 to 10:37. For the first half of this song I went for a cosmic black metal sound to best convey the chaotic nature of these dreams. Don't get me wrong though. I absolutely love these dreams! I just wish they were more recurring. I think I've only had maybe 3 or 4 of these dreams but I'll always remember them. So the first time I had a dream like this the moon began expanding and shrinking over and over again. Then other planets began getting close to us. Then they began crashing into each other and chaos ensued. It was awesome. Black holes started forming and new planets were being born. another dream was pretty much the same thing but for some reason the sky looked like a static tv screen. My most favorite dream of all wasn't chaotic at all but very calm and soothing. It was a sunny morning with a brisk cool wind blowing. I love mornings like that. I started walking to school when I looked up at the sky and saw Saturn in clear view. It was huge! So I did what any one would do: I grew wings and began flying towards it. I'll never forget that dream.

9:24 to the end is how I close it off. I wrote this song (or songs) to give my dreams a soundtrack. It's something I find therapeutic and something I not only do with dreams but with everyday life. Sometimes I'll remember a song I heard and make that the soundtrack to an event in my life. For example for my wedding I use the hidden song in Epilogue by The Receiving End of Sirens. And sometimes I make the soundtrack and through that I better understand traumatic events in my life and I find ways to deal with PTSD. So the end of this song is from a dream I had where I was in an escape room by myself. Only this wasn't a room but was outside at night under a clear starry sky. I had no idea where to go so I just started walking anywhere. It was quiet but I heard a melody in the distance so I started walking towards that. I began going through a forest lit by fireflies. The melody got stronger and I knew I was getting somewhere. I cleared the forest and found myself at what looked like the edge of an unfinished level. And for some reason I was ok with that. I sat down and looked at the moon above me. The melody playing in this dream is what the song ends with.

So the song titles go:
Traversing the Dreamscape
Part 1: Three House Row
Part 2: LAByrinth
Part 3: The Sky is Doing Weird Stuff
